Smile with reduced dental proportions due to altered passive eruption, Coslet type 1A, with gingival margins coronal to the cementoenamel junction and a perception of short teeth. The bone crest is in a normal position relative to the crown-root junction.

In cases of altered passive eruption (Coslet classification), aesthetic crown lengthening, involving gingivectomy and, when indicated, ostectomy to restore the biological width, re-establishes proper dental proportions and harmonises the gingival design, often without the need for restorative treatment.
