The Amla dental clinic, in Aveiro, was born from a shared reflection between architecture and health. From the earliest conversations with its owners, the project was built around a series of values that define both its approach to dentistry and its understanding of human relationships: specialization, efficiency, quality, proximity, transparency, scientific rigour, innovation and a deep trust in teamwork.
Rather than simply designing a healthcare space, the goal was to create a clinic capable of expressing these principles through architecture. A flexible, honest and serene place, conceived to support the growth of an ambitious professional project while placing the patient experience at the centre of every decision.

The functional organisation forms the invisible structure on which the entire project is built. A thorough analysis of circulation, uses and relationships allows for a clear distinction between public, clinical and private areas, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for both patients and professionals. The inclusion of independent access points reinforces this strategy, providing privacy and autonomy to the space's different users.
Light plays a fundamental role in shaping the interior atmosphere. The project seeks to make the most of natural light, filtering and controlling it to create comfortable, balanced spaces. Where the existing architecture prevented its presence, large artificial skylights were designed to reinterpret overhead lighting and accompany the interior pathways with an indirect, enveloping glow. The result is a sequence of calm, light-filled spaces of exceptional environmental quality.
The intervention on the façade aims to humanise the building's original scale and strengthen its urban presence. Natural greenery and a large backlit panel create a recognisable, welcoming image, capable of conveying the clinic's values from the visitor's very first encounter.
Inside, a palette of warm materials and carefully crafted wood joinery bring a sense of closeness and naturalness. As a tribute to local identity, Aveiro's ceramic tradition is woven into the project through specially selected pieces, finding its fullest expression at the reception desk, an element that becomes the first gesture of welcome and a statement of intent about the importance of detail.
Every corner of the clinic has been designed with the same care and dedication that its owners have invested in building their professional project. The result is a deeply personal space, where architecture, technology and wellbeing coexist naturally to meet the present and future needs of those who inhabit it.
